The First Day Ever

So the phrase "live today like it's your last" has always really bothered me.  Not just because it's inspired the dumbest acronym in the English language (see:  yolo) or because it's basically sacrilegious (see:  The Bible).  No, it is because to me that sounds so incredibly sad.  Can you seriously consider for a moment what you would do if you knew it was your last day?  I feel like that is so sad.  You'd be filled with so much regret and panic and wastfulness.  Anything you'd do would just seem.. dismal.  The other day I came across a quote that said to live today like it's your first.  Now that is much more to my liking.  Imagine you are just plopped on this earth for the first time ever.  You'd be so excited and filled with so much wonder at even the smallest things!  You'd want to try that ice cream shop on the corner.  You'd be excited to see all the silly National Monuments or those places they adverstize on the freeway in remote places (such as the Museum of Butter).  You'd want to try bee farming!
Ok so maybe this is just becoming a list of things I want to do.  The point is, the first day would be the most exciting, hopeful day.  So why not live every day like its your first?  Even if you live in the same place you've lived for years, there is always something to feel amazement or curiosity over.  Like bee farming.
So now that I'm thinking about this, I'm going to digress.  I really, really want to work on a bee farm.  That is what I am asking for for my birthday.  I'm border line obsessed with the idea of bees.  It all began last summer when I told my then-fiancee that I was going to be a bee keeper and we were going to buy a hive when we had the money.  Then I met a nice bee keeper at a farmers' market in Virginia who told us to come and work on his bee farm in the spring.  However, we no longer live there.  So.  Now I need to find a new bee farm.
